The nominees for the 2022 CMA Awards were announced on Wednesday (Sept. 7) with Lainey Wilson leading the nominations.
In her first year as a CMA, Wilson scored six nominations including Album of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, Music Video of the Year, Musical Event of the Year, and Song of the Year.
While other stars like Ashley McBryde, Carly Pearce, and Chris Stapleton all scored multiple nominations, artists like Scotty McCreery, Dierks Bentley, and Thomas Rhett were left out.
Despite earning a three-week #1 hit with”Damn Strait,” Scotty failed to earn a nomination. Dierks Bentley and Thomas Rhett were left out of the Male Vocalist of the year race and two years after his Entertainer of the Year win, Eric Church was shut out of the category.
Other notable absences include Jimmie Allen, Kane Brown, Parmalee, and Keith Urban.
The CMA Awards will air Wednesday, Nov. 9, on ABC and will be hosted by Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning.
